So i was listening to music on Youtube. 90s RnB, that's my shit right there. Remembering old times as a teen...
Even though it's not a new fact. Nor is it something i personally didn't know, but somehow, it hit me (again): when did a woman, in an RnB video, have to be overly sexy, showing physical obvious and exaggerated assets, have fake lashes, perfect flowy hair and high-ass heels, to be believable as a love interest for the male signer??
I was listening to Tevin Campbell's "Can We Talk" and his girl in the video is wearing baggy clothes. And she is believable as she is fly as hell.... without having to be over-sexualized.
I'm down with the Beyoncés, Rihannas, Marshas of today... but i miss TLC, Salt'n'Pepa and old Aaliyah.. being feminine and fly without the overload of makeup and spanks.
And the men. I take Tevin's video over any Drake's shit any day.
Anyway, rant done.
